The Rainbow Project is one of Northern Ireland’s leading LGBTQIA+ organisations. The Rainbow Project was established in 1994 to tackle the increase in HIV and AIDS among men who have sex with men in Northern Ireland. While The Rainbow Project was originally established as a sexual health organisation the activities of the organisation have developed and expanded in line with the identified needs of LGBTQIA+ people in Northern Ireland.
In 2011-2012 the Board of Trustees of The Rainbow Project took the decision to expand the remit of The Rainbow Project from a gay and bisexual men’s organisation to an LGBTQIA+ organisation. This move was agreed to bring the organisational structure into line with its current activities. Over the last 10 years The Rainbow Project has developed and delivered advocacy services, research and youth services targeted at LGBTQIA+ people.
The Rainbow Project is seeking to recruit Board members from across Northern Ireland committed to our mission statement of “promoting the health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ people, and their families, in Northern Ireland” and our vision “of a society free from homophobia, heterosexism and transphobia where all people are recognised as equals”.
